Take your icon painting course with us!
July 5 – July 25, 2009 The Icon-Painting Summer School is a unique chance for Christians who wish to gain some skills in iconography. We offer you a series of icon painting workshops (icon painting courses) in which we teach you traditional Western Ukrainian iconography technique. Practical icon-painting classes are joined with theoretical courses on the theology of icon and, more broadly, on Eastern Christian sacred art. The aim of the School is not only to teach participants basic painting skills, but to introduce into the theology of icon and to reveal the spiritual richness of iconography. School participants will have a chance to experience spiritual growth while working on their own icon and taking part in the Liturgy of the Byzantine rite. School offers a unique opportunity for those who wish to acquire solid knowledge of the local Western Ukrainian technique of icon-painting. The School takes place at the Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU) in Lviv from July 5 to July 25, 2009. The participants can enroll in either the Ukrainian-speaking or English-speaking groups. Everyone who is interested in sacred art is welcome to join in. The deadline for applications is June 2, 2009 . To apply for the Icon-Painting School, please fill out the application form and submit it to arsacra@gmail.com All students will be divided into two groups – beginners and advanced. The artistic skills of the participant will be taken into account and the application form will determine in which group the student needs to be placed.
