Ivan Franko Park

Created over four centuries ago, this park is the oldest not just in Lviv, but in whole Ukraine. At the end of the main alley there is a large cast-iron vase with bas-reliefs (1838), which are a loose interpretation of a work by the famous Danish sculptor Thorvaldsen depicting “The everchanging nature of human life”.

Striy Park

This is one of Lviv’s most popular parks. At the beginning of the 20th century it was considered to be the most beautiful park in Europe. Its symbols are the small lake with swans and the large glazed greenhouse with tropical plants, the latter dating back to the end of 19th century. In the upper part of the park one can find a unique bass relief of the totalitarian age (1955) with ancient Cupids and industrial urban landscape, as well as remains of the sculptures in the style of socialist realism.

Vysoky Zamok Park

It is situated on the slopes on the highest manmade hill in the center of Lviv. The foot of this artificial barrow is guarded by a 400-year-old stone lion which was built on the hill in 14th century can be found nearby. To add attractiveness to the park, an artificial cave was constructed here in the middle of the 19th century. It is marked by an inscription which reads “August 15, 1841”, and two more stone lions from the old Ratusha stand guard over its entrance.
