Lviv Art Gallery

It is the largest art museum in Ukraine, and home to a unique collection of fine arts, sculpture and graphic arts from Western and Eastern Europe, dating from the middle ages to today. A real diamond among the gallery’s outstanding exhibits is a painting by George de la Tour titled “At the money-lender’s”. It is the only work by this most mysterious European artist kept in Ukraine, and actually one of the few surviving ones in the entire world.

Museum of Ethnography and Folk Art

This is one of the most specialized ethnographical museums in Europe, housing the richest collection of Ukrainian folk art. Among its treasures is a collection of folk clothes, which includes 19-20th century traditional wear from virtually all historic and ethnographic regions of Ukraine. Lviv Museum of Ethnography possesses the largest and the fullest collection of Ukrainian painted Easter eggs, totaling to over 12 thousand.

Shevchenko Grove

This park is located in one of the most picturesque parts of the city. Exceptionally beautiful wooden houses and churches create an authentic atmosphere of Ukrainian villages from various regions of the country. Not a single museum in the world can boast such a large number of religious buildings. Performances of folk music and dance group are staged within Shevchenko Grove, and liturgies are held in its churches.

Lviv History Museum

This is one of the richest museums in Ukraine. Among the rarities exhibited here are encolpions – hollow crosses intended for storing holy relics. The museum also houses the books of the first Ukrainian printer Ivan Fedorov, as well as a collection of on-coffin portraits which is of immeasurable historical and cultural value. Yet another of the museum’s impressive exhibits is a very original signet ring made by a German craftsman in the 17th century. This ring believed to have been used by mages for communication with the other world. A total of about 1.5 million unique artifacts are kept in Lviv’s museums.

The Museum of beer

The first museum of brewing in Ukraine, with an area of over 500 square meters, is located in the building of the ХIX century. There is an exclusive collection of various exhibits among which you can see antique beer mugs with trade marks stamped on glass, beer beakers, made in various styles and brought from different European countries, recipe books of the XIX century. Guests can visit the tasting room where everyone can taste legendary drink and get souvenirs.
