School of Ukrainian Language and Culture
School of Ukrainian Language & Culture would like to invite you to our sixth Summer Program in the “Cultural Capital of Ukraine” Lviv. Our program allows you plenty of time to discover your new country, culture and customs. You can enjoy leisure time at various venues including theaters, opera, circus and concert halls and music bars. The city restaurants offer both the Old Ukrainian culinary and the new trends, which come both from the West and the East. Our city is an open-air museum combining the best of the Western and Eastern influences. It is a stunning place to learn the language and is filled with unlimited cultural treasures You can apply for Summer 2009! Our programs cater for all language levels from absolute beginners to the more advanced, include the use of course materials and provide a variety of options to enhance your program. Beginners must start on set start dates and have at least the knowledge of the Cyrillic alphabet. Each student will be expected to take a short placement test on the first Monday morning of the course (unless a complete beginner), to determine the students language level and ensure placement in the correct class. Teachers are native speakers, university educated with years of teaching experience of Ukrainian as a foreign language. They will help enhance your speaking, listening, grammar and general comprehension skills. A key element of the program is our staff or tutors who live in the dormitory, eat with the students and are always available. They will also use interactive techniques such as role-play, games and perhaps videos to support lesson content. Current political, social and cultural materials are integrated to add interest and increase knowledge of the host country and culture. After classes are over for the day, our program allows you plenty of time to discover your new country, culture, traditions, customs and everyday life. The school normally organizes at least two activities per week, such as theater visits (opera/drama/ballet), theme excursions, trips, shopping tours and weekend excursions to the countryside and to other cities. At the weekend many students can arrange to take optional excursions to local cities or local places of interest: Kamianets-Podilskyy, Khotyn, Mukachevo, Kolomyia … Summer program A - three-week June 22 – July 10 Summer program B - six-week June 22 – July 31 Summer program C - three-week July 13 – July 31 Standard courses 25 hours* per week Intensive courses 33 hours* per week NEW!
