The Department of Information Technology aims at improving and enlivening the educational process through appropriate technology. At present, the Academy already provides the best technical services to humanities students in Ukraine. The administration appreciates the importance of information technology and the opportunity it provides to participate in the current globalization of education, scholarship and society. Students enjoy free access to word processing and printing, individual email accounts, unlimited web browsing, graphics editing, and some multimedia production. Faculty and staff enjoy the same services in a variety of offices linked to the campus network. The library and several research institutes are part of this network. The Institute of Church History has a large and impressive multimedia database going up on the web, including photos, audio interviews, and text documenting the Ukrainian Catholic underground. Over 30,000 pages of historically valuable interviews have now been digitalized. The LTA continues to receive recognition for its technological programs. A Carnegie Foundation grant (administered by IREX) will fund the first stage of the Database of Ukrainian Art. One librarian recently received a grant from the ACLS for electronic publication of his bibliography of Ukrainians in Latin America.
