Resources

Despite the difficult economic situation in Ukraine, the University strives to provide its students and staff with all the necessary means to conduct their work. The UCU's resources are meant to improve the effectiveness of work and to bring the conditions and quality of education up to world-class standards. Among the various resources of the University are its library, which has Ukraine's largest collection of theological literature, and the Department of Information Technologies, which provides the best technical support presently available to students of the Humanities in Ukraine.

The Leopolis Project: An electronic archive
of the history of Ukrainian art
http://leopolis.lta.lviv.ua

The goal of the Leopolis Project is the development of an electronic archive of Ukrainian art and a research and study database for the Ukrainian Catholic University. It will gather information on the most important works of art created in Ukraine during the thousand year period from the Christianization of Kyivan-Rus to the establishment of an independent Ukrainian state in 1991.

The Leopolis Project was conceived as a national computerized register of valuable artworks, that is, a prototypical information system similar to Germany's Marburger Index. The Leopolis Project accords with the most modern standards of description and terminology and also with the technological requirements of electronic information exchange. It provides Internet access to wide-ranging information about the art and culture of Ukraine.

The Project is being developed in partnership with the Ukrainian Research Institute at Harvard University and Ukraine's leading art museums.

Galiciana: An electronic index
of the architectural monuments of western Ukraine
http://galiciana.lta.lviv.ua

The electronic index Galiciana contains a wide-range of textual and visual information about architectural monuments in the territory of western Ukraine, that is, in the Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk and Ternopil regions. Galiciana could be called an "electronic historical-architectural atlas" of Galicia (western Ukraine), inasmuch as its core is an interactive map of western Ukraine.

The chronological range of the project is maximally wide: architectural examples from the post-modern age will be found along with remains of the ancient Trypillian settlement. This resource will also include informative materials on general history and culture that are related to the lands of Galicia. They are contextually connected with architectural structures and other standing memorials (monumental works of art, archaeological objects).
