The Ukrainian Catholic University conducts academic research in several basic fields
that are divided between its 8 institutes. The Institutes of the Ukrainian Catholic University are an essential component of the University's educational and research mission.
Development of the scholarly base deepens and broadens the level of
knowledge in Theology, History, the Social Sciences and Language Studies. For example, the Academy's first institute, the Institute of Church History, has since its establishment collected impressive archives of materials about the life of the underground Church; this will be a source for the research of many generations of scholars. Development of the scholarly base will provide the groundwork on which the Licentiate and Doctoral programs are being planned.
The publishing activities of the Institutes serve to answer the needs of the humanities in Ukraine in general and for the needs of the Academy itself with new publications in various scholarly fields and disciplines.
Research training for students: in various ways the students are drawn to the scholarly pursuits of the institutes, which introduces them more profoundly into the world of knowledge.
Mission: each institute was created to address certain needs of the
Church and society. Thus the different scholarly projects of the University's Institutes are at the same time a part of the Christian mission of the University.
