“An unforgettable Christmas” 01.13.2006, [15:45] As part of the Christmas Together event for January 2006, Lviv hosted approximately 7000 guests from eastern and southern Ukraine. Of these, 560 high school and college students came to the city through the mediation of the organizing committee of the Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU). UCU Invites South and Center to Celebrate Christmas Together 12.23.2005, [20:15] Lviv – The Christmas Together project will again take place in western Ukrainian Lviv from 6 to 9 January 2006. Last year more than 2000 young people from eastern and central Ukraine came to Lviv to celebrate Christmas. The initiators of the action are Ivan Franko Lviv National University (IFLNU) and the Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU). UCU Rector Edits Ukrainian Version of John Paul II’s Final Book 12.16.2005, [17:34] The Ukrainian version of the last book of Pope John Paul II was presented at the Apostolic Nunciature in Kyiv on 13 December 2005. Among those present were Prof. Antoine Arjakovsky, director of the Institute of Ecumenical Studies of the Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU) in Lviv, and Patriarch Lubomyr (Husar), head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC), who wrote the introduction to the Ukrainian version. Ecumenical Institute Director Meets with Constantinople Patriarch 11.15.2005, [19:14] Antoine Arjakovsky, director of UCU’s Institute of Ecumenical Studies, at the invitation of Patriarch Bartholomew I of Constantinople participated in a Conference on Peace and Tolerance in Southeastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia, held in Istanbul, 7-9 November 2005. Quality Formation of Priests Priority for New Archbishop 11.11.2005, [21:17] Archbishop Ihor Vozniak was enthroned as head of the Lviv archeparchy of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church on 10 November 2005 in St. George’s Cathedral in western Ukrainian Lviv. Among the top priorities for the new archbishop is the quality formation of priests. Joint Prayers Held at Lviv Ukrainian-Polish Cemetery 11.08.2005, [11:35] Lviv – For the fourth year, joint public prayer took place at Lviv’s Lychakivskyi Cemetery, where Ukrainian and Polish soldiers who died during the Ukrainian-Polish War of 1918-1920 are buried. On 1 November 2005, Patriarch Lubomyr (Husar), head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC), and Cardinal Marian Jaworski, primate of the Roman Catholic Church (RCC) in Ukraine, together with the faithful came to honor the memory of the dead. Orthodox priests also joined in the prayer.
