The Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church was represented by Fr. Iwan Dacko, president of the Institute of Ecumenical Studies of the Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU). UCU Leaders Participate in Conference on Orthodox Priest Born in Mykolaiv 05.09.2006, [14:35] An Orthodox priest who served Russian émigrés to France in the 1920s and early 1930s was the subject of a conference, “Alexander Elchaninov, Orthodox Priest and Historian of Religion,” held in southern Ukrainian Mykolaiv on 1-2 May 2006. Mykolaiv was Fr. Elchaninov’s home town. The Ukrainian Catholic University was represented by Dr. Antoine Arjakovsky, director of its Institute of Ecumenical Studies; Fr. Social Pedagogy Program to Start at Ukrainian Catholic University 04.14.2006, [11:13] Lviv – Social pedagogy, a new academic discipline, was presented at the Day of Open Doors of the Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU) in western Ukrainian Lviv on 8 April 2006. Starting in September 2006, approximately 30 students of the university’s Humanities Faculty will be enrolled in the program. Ukraine has no so similar program to prepare a social pedagogue, as UCU’s Information Department reported. UCU Celebrates Accreditation of Theology 03.15.2006, [11:35] Lviv – Joined by bishops, religious, and representatives of the government and education, the Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU) on 9 March 2006 celebrated the licensing of theology as an academic discipline by Ukraine’s Ministry of Education.
