Student Organizations

Inside and outside the University students join various clubs, groups, communities and civic organizations according to their interest.

Student Council

This is the University-wide body of student self-government. It coordinates relations between the students and the UCU Administration.

Charity Center "Echoes"

The Charity Center organizes various student service projects. Generally a large number of students and teachers of the University take part in the center's activities.

St. Luke Center of Sacred Art

The center brings together students who are interested in the history and the present status of world and Ukrainian sacred art, especially icons and church architecture.

Choir "Stritennia" (Presentation in the Holy Temple)

To provide a full-fledged liturgical life at the Academy, students and staff take part in the activities of the Academy's choir. Under the direction of Volodymyr Ben' the choir members study and perform the works of Ukrainian and foreign composers, the musical heritage of different regions of Ukraine and the Christian East.

Student Newspaper The Wide Horizon

The student newspaper is an independent monthly publication that publicizes activities at the Academy and also comments on various trends and events that are occurring in society and the Church.

Bible Group

This group studies Sacred Scripture on the basis of the three main sources of the Christian faith: the Bible, the works of the Church Fathers and the Liturgy in the context of the heritage of the Byzantine East.

Debate Club

Various topics are discussed at meetings of the club, generally of a moral and spiritual character; politicians and activists from Church and society are invited.

"Pro-Life" student group

"Pro-Life," a student group at the Ukrainian Catholic University, was created on the initiative of the UCU's Institute of Marriage and Family Life in 2001 with the blessing of Cardinal Lubomyr Husar, head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. Two members of the group, Artem Mysiak and Vasyl Kopyn, talk about its activities and objectives.
